Scientific Illustration

Throughout my career, I have illustrated the flora and fauna native to Chile — work that requires close study of anatomy, behavior, coloration, and the specific traits that distinguish each species. One of my greatest passions is bringing people closer to nature, translating scientific observation into images that are both accurate and emotionally engaging. My clients include national parks, environmental organizations, government agencies, and conservation institutions.

Research process

Each illustration begins with primary research: scientific literature, field guides, and — whenever possible — direct consultation with biologists or park rangers familiar with the species. I study specimen photography, anatomical references, and habitat context before making a single sketch. Initial drawings are reviewed against source material for taxonomic accuracy, then refined through multiple rounds of digital rendering — balancing scientific precision with a visual language accessible to non-specialist audiences. Where the work is intended for exhibition or educational use, I coordinate directly with curators or scientific advisors to ensure the final piece serves both accuracy and pedagogical clarity.
